Simple editor for all your document Templates

Moobiz creates several documents for you automatically - invoices, cost proposals, statements and so on. This has always worked quite well as far as viewing, emailing and printing was concerned. Making minor changes to how these documents looked, such as adding your logo was however, an incredibly technical task.

I have to write code? Why?

The old editor required a thorough understanding of XML, XSL, HTML & CSS to get anywhere. If you don't build web sites all day, you had no chance. We're sorry!

Not only did you need to start writing code, the old Template Editor had numerous colourful warning messages along with confusing options for a Description & Status. Here it is, one last time:

Old, evil Template editor

Lastly, when making Template changes, you were presented with a list of previous template versions, how many times they'd been used and which ones you could delete. You don't need to worry about that anymore, Moobiz just takes care of it for you.

Besides being very technical & against the Moobiz principle of keeping everything simple & easy to use, we'd made the assumption that you'd want to be making lots of tweaks and changes to the design of your templates.

Just the logo, please!

Turns out, most people really just want to stick a logo on their invoices along with correct contact & billing details. Then get on with actually sending the invoices out and getting paid. Adjusting the font sizes & margins of a cost proposal with infinite design possibilities isn't as important as getting a smart, tidy looking proposal over to a potential customer.

Therefore, we've just updated Moobiz with a shiny new Template editor! This new form looks after all your templates - no more going through each individually to change a phone number for example. It just asks you for the main details you really need to get going.

And it needs to print nicely...

We've also noticed a lot of you removing logos, address details and so on in order to print documents on letterheaded paper. That can get messy and means you lose the flexibility to both email and print an invoice for example.

Therefore, a new feature we've included in this update is the option to tell us you print on letterheaded paper. Checking this option means your logo and contact details will show when emailing a document or viewing it on-screen, but crucially won't show when printing.

Print friendly printing!

We hope you like the update - we know the old Template editor was very painful for a lot of you Moobizers out there!

What if I had a bespoke design previously?

We've done our best to ensure your templates look like they did before, and can still be edited using our new simple editor. If however you experience any problems, pop a support ticket in and we can alter it for you!

I need a bespoke design!

We'll update the web site, Help section & documentation for anyone wanting to create bespoke templates over the next week. Everything still uses the same XML/XSL underneath, we've just added some extra options if you want your own XSL to hook into the new editor.
